Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic/Millwright to join our local team in the Portland Metro Area. As a Maintenance Mechanic/Millwright, you will have the ability to prepare, weld, and fabricate metal structures and components throughout our three ready-mix batch plants located in Vancouver, Washington, Canby and Portland, Oregon.

What You'll Get to Do:

  • Primarily troubleshoot, repair, and maintain ready-mix batch plants that includes large and small conveyer systems, Aggregate feed bins and multiple types and sizes of mechanical piping systems.

  • Cut, weld, fabricate, change pulleys, fix conveyors, etc.

  • Anticipate problems and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Operate the plants and batch concrete using computerized equipment that produces accurately calibrated and consistent mix quality

  • Responsible for compliance with applicable environmental regulations as it relates to the proper operation of batch plant equipment.

  • Operate mobile equipment on plant property (such as loader, backhoe, haul truck, water truck, man lifts, and service truck, etc.)

  • Schedule and perform routine preventative maintenance and service for each component on the plant

  • Inspect plants regularly for signs of malfunctions, including visual and sound inspections

  • Use a variety of power and hand tools to perform job functions

  • Work effectively with other team members in a loud environment

  • Repair, install, adjust, or maintain equipment/components

  • Complete written record of work performed

Essential Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of industrial plants

  • Must be able to effectively communicate and safely follow directions

  • Ability to operate loader and other yard equipment as needed

  • Desire to work cooperatively as part of a productive team

  • Ability to work safely, and independently without constant supervision

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work at heights on ladders, platforms, or man lifts.

  • Able to work inside and outside in year-round weather conditions

  • In good physical condition, able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs., sit and stand for extended periods of time, kneel, climb ladders, and walk on varied terrain

  • Ability to work different extended hours, holidays and/or overtime required

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Knowledge of Command batch system is an asset

  • Computer batching skills a plus

  • Previous experience in an asphalt, Ready mix, or aggregate plant

  • Experience using mobile equipment

  • Be mechanically inclined
