Boeing Commercial Airplanes has an exciting opportunity for a Machine Cell Operator to join our manufacturing team in Portland, OR !

Employees in this position in a gear cutting cell, independently setup, adjust, prove out, prep work (lap) prior to machining and simultaneously operate a variety of machines capable of performing various functions such as turning, reaming, drilling, tapping, chamfering, and gear cutting to produce finished gears to quality requirements. Work is performed in accordance with an established sequence of operations, predetermined machine control data, and preset tools and fixtures.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Use any and all precision measuring instruments, gear testing machines and methods necessary to complete and check own work assignment.

  • Provide part quality information and statistics as required.

  • Work with and interpret charts, tables, blueprints, formulas, sketches, verbal orders, job layouts, etc., to accomplish assigned work.

  • Make preparations and adjustments as required, ensuring proper machine operation. Including monitoring coolant/oil for concentration and levels, replenishing as required.

  • Detect faulty tools and take corrective action in accordance with shop practices and shop procedures.

  • Make process improvement recommendations.

  • Perform other gear finishing related processes such as sand blast, heat treat, clean, and deburr as necessary.

  • Within the cell, perform all tasks involved in the coordination, preparation, and movement of material.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 5 + years of machinist experience.

  • Experience working with tool and cutter grinding processes, prototype development, or fabrication processes.

  • Experience working on multiple projects concurrently.

  • Experience in gear cell machining/cutting.

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 35 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • High school graduate or GED preferred.

Relocation:

This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at the own expense.

Shift:

This position is for variable shift.

Summary pay range: $23.00/hour - $46.58/hour
