Boeing Commercial Airplanes has an exciting opportunity for an Inspector Numerical Control Measuring Machines to join our Quality Assurance team in Portland, OR.

Inspectors in this position inspect tools, machined parts, and assemblies, for conformance with applicable drawings, specifications, quality standards and manufacturing plans, using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM). Inspectors may also perform various in-process inspections, audits and heat-treat inspections.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Follow numerical control programs, documents, drawings, specifications and quality standards to operate numerical controlled inspection and measuring machines* and perform all inspection functions the machines are, or may be adapted to perform.

  • Select proper tools, fixtures, attachments, or associated equipment and make setups to accomplish work assignments.

  • Manually operate machine to prove control media and/or perform inspection functions.

  • Initiate and document any nonconforming materials, hardware, software, tools, parts assemblies or portions thereof, according to specification, process and procedures.

  • Perform audit/ surveillance of all manufacturing and quality assurance processes, according to specifications, process and procedures.

  • Use precision measuring instruments, devices, machines, gages, tools and associated equipment necessary to set up machine and/or perform layout for assigned work.

  • Use mathematics including geometry and trigonometry as required to perform work assignments.

  • Make intershift tie-ins, coordinate inspection activities, plan and arrange own work.

  • Refer discrepancies affecting work assignments to supervisor.

  • Devise and make checking fixtures or other shop aids as required to perform work assignments.

  • Assemble inspection data, maintain records and provide reports as required. *Including the electronic testing which does not require the application of electronic theory for interpretation or verification of results.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.

  • Must have experience as a Quality Inspector.

  • Ability to walk constantly throughout the workday; stand 6-8 hours per day; climb or work from stairs/steps up to 8 hours per day; climb ladders; bend and twist frequently up to six hours per day; squat and kneel.

  • 1+ years of experience in setting and using precision measuring tools and equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and/or dial indicators.

  • 1+ years of experience using software applications for internet navigation, email, Microsoft Suite and/or other specialized computer applications.

  • 1+ years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications (e.g., blueprint/schematic reading, specification, change, design).

  • 1+ years of experience calibrating and/or using coordinate measurement machines, laser trackers, and/or optical measurement devices.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • High School graduate or GED preferred.

  • 1+ years of experience conducting Inspections using ASME Standards for Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).

Typical Education:

High school graduate or GED preferred.

Summary pay range: $24.00/hour - $46.58/hour
