UCP Oregon is an exciting and empowering place to work. We help adults who experience developmental disabilities to live the life of their dreams—whether that’s living independently, working in a great job, or pursuing their interests and hobbies.

We are currently seeking two full-time caregiver “Personal Assistants” who will support a woman that experiences developmental and physical disabilities. She is an independent, charming, and quirky lady that lives in her own apartment in SE Portland.

You will plan and participate in a couple community activities each weekend, whether that’s visiting a comic book store or going to the park for a picnic. You will help her manage health care needs, including administering all medications and ensuring that she receives timely care for illness or injury. You will prepare all of her meals, including monitoring her portions and carbohydrate intake, perform household chores, and provide personal assistance as she dresses and bathes. You will also provide emotional support for some challenging behaviors.

You will have 2 schedule options:

Schedule 1: Two shifts per week totaling 40 hours: 12pm on Tuesday until 8am on Wednesday & 12pm on Thursday until 8am on Friday. *You’ll also work your regular hours on Agency holidays.

Schedule 2: Two shifts per week totaling 40 hours: Friday 8am to 8pm & Sunday 12pm until 4pm on Monday. *You’ll also work your regular hours on Agency holidays.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Be able to pass our pre-hiring screenings, including a reference check, a physical with a lifting test of 50lbs, and a criminal history background check.

  • Driving on the job is optional—if choosing to drive for UCP, you must be at least 18 years old, have a current driver’s license, a reliable personal vehicle, at least two years of driving experience, auto insurance, and a clean driving record.

  • Experience in the developmental disability or mental health field preferred, but not required.

Benefits

  • $18.00 per hour. Annual wage increase based on satisfactory performance.

  • Eligible for overtime pay for hours worked over 40 hours per week.

  • Holiday pay (double pay for the first 12 hours of any agency holiday shift that you work).
