Aston Carter Assistant Controller in Portland, Oregon

Description:

This position is responsible for the day-to-day and month end accounting functions for a rapidly growing organization. This position will manage and supervise the accounting team while improving existing procedures and creating new processes. They will manage general accounting functions (accounts receivable, accounts payable, etc.), general ledger, financial statement preparation, audits, regulatory compliance, and internal controls. Essential Functions include:

  • Management of monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes.

  • Analysis of journal entries and reconciliations.

  • Preparation of financial statements and management reporting packages in accordance with US GAAP.

  • Implementation of internal controls.

  • Supervision, development, and training of corporate accounting staff including department managers and individual contributors.

  • Research of accounting issues to ensure compliance with appropriate reporting standards.

  • Leadership and coordination of external and internal audits.

  • Preparation, maintenance, and documentation of accounting policies and procedures.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of full-cycle US GAAP accounting experience including financial reporting and period close management

  • 3+ years experience managing accounting teams. Team size of 5-10+ employees preferred. Previous experience managing department managers also preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge and experience of internal controls

  • Experience in a medium to large sized, complex corporate environment

  • Tier 1 or Tier 2 ERP system experience required, MS Dynamics or SAP preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or related field required

  • Must have expert level communication and leadership skills
