Amazon Accounting Manager, Devices and Services in Portland, Oregon

The Device Inventory Accounting Team is actively involved in managing Amazon's WW device inventory across various business lines. We oversee the accounting processes related to device acquisitions, geo expansions, transfers, returns, and repairs. We are seeking an Accounting Manager to execute various accounting tasks and projects to help support initiatives within the inventory/Reverse Logistics space (including customer returns, in-transit inventory, warranty accruals, supply chain, trade-in). The successful candidate will currently be operating at the manager level. Typical candidates for this position will have held similar positions in larger public companies, will have experience in the inventory/reverse logistics space, or held a manager level position with a Big 4 public accounting firm serving Fortune 500 clients.

Key job responsibilities

The role requires a self-starter with the ability to be analytical in their support of new initiatives. This role will partner and collaborate with key stakeholders across the accounting, finance and business organizations and therefore requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The candidate should exhibit a strong sense of ownership, promptly escalating risks and issues as needed. This role involves leading accounting tasks and projects, technical accounting research, and executing month-end close activities efficiently. The successful candidate must be able to perform dive deep analytics on existing processes, identify re-engineering activities, and drive change. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in past roles working across a wide organization in rapidly evolving environments as this position will work cross organizationally with to help drive automation, reduce manual effort and improve reporting needs to support business growth. In addition, this position will be expected to understand internal control design concepts sufficient to assess the effectiveness of controls in their area and to influence the design of systems, processes and controls for growing business activities.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field

  • Experience in Excel (macros, index, conditional list, arrays, pivots, lookups)

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA

  • Knowledge of internal control framework (specifically COSO) to assess control design and operational efficiency

  • Knowledge of GAAP research tools and the FASB codification

  • Experience in accounting management in Big Four with Fortune 500 clients

  • Experience researching and documenting support for accounting conclusions

  • Experience with inventory accounting

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $81,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
