COMMUNITY HEALTH PROMOTION SPECIALISTS OUTREACH

Health & Human Services Department -Now Hiring

The City of Portlands Health & Human Services Department is hiring forFull-Time (37.5 hrs), Project positionsas Community Health Promotion Specialists to provide outreach to individuals experiencing homelessness in Portland.

These exciting positions will help community members access housing and community services and will provide connections to health and other social supports. Successful candidates will have experience working with unhoused and underserved populations in the Greater Portland area. We are looking for individuals with a passion to support vulnerable populations such as the unhoused and those experiencing mental health and/or substance use disorders.

This position will be a pivotal role in the exciting new Encampment Crisis Response Team efforts and work collaboratively with community partners. Successful candidates will be able to connect with unhoused individuals and provide support to access housing, medical services, food, water, or other needs, by connecting them to the appropriate social and health services entities and community organizations who can provide these services. They will provide outreach and education to these individuals and serve as a liaison between the unhoused community and City of Portland programs. Individuals with lived experience and/or experience working directly with the unhoused community are strongly encouraged to apply.

The schedule for these positions will be Monday-Friday, 9am-5:30pm.

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and have a valid Maine drivers license, maintain a clean driving record and have a personal vehicle available for work use.\ \ Applications accepted until filled\ Offers of employment are contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory criminal background check.

Salary & Benefits:

Pro-Tech Union position - Grade 6 - Starting rate of \$25.50 hourly.
