Planning & Urban Development Department

This position is responsible for providing a variety of administrative, communication, and technical support to the department. The administrative assistant engages daily with the public and is a crucial member of our support staff. Primary responsibilities, aside from administrative support to department staff, will be moderating public board meetings on a virtual platform, managing website and social media content, ensuring projects are archived in digital format for public access, assisting with special projects, and assisting with preparation of Planning Board and Historic Preservation Board online meeting packets.\ \ Requirements

  • Graduation from high school, supplemented by two years of college or university training; or an equivalent combination of work experience and training.
  • This position requires strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience with multiple software platforms and strong technical skills is a must.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and be thorough. Ability to organize and schedule work to meet deadlines
  • Ability to make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, superiors and the general public.
  • Ability to maintain highly confidential information.
