Portage Public School MTSS Paraprofessional in Portage, Michigan

MTSS PARAPROFESSIONAL Lake Center Elementary School School Year Employee 7.5 hours per day $13.52/hour

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist Directed Learning Room supervisor identify student deficiencies.
  • Assist teachers, counselors and principals identify students whom are failing courses.
  • Implement intervention strategies to assist students to succeed in their academics.
  • Provide supplemental instruction and assist students with organization skills.
  • Monitor student grades via PIV to document increased organizational skills and academic achievement.
  • Provide written documentation to Assistant Principals and Principals regarding student participation, student achievement, staff referrals and any student behavioral concerns.
  • Implement remedial programs academic areas with individual or small groups of students.
  • Assist in the assessment of student progress.
  • Communicate frequently with teachers.
  • Assist in behavior management efforts.
  • May perform some minimal clerical functions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned

  • Must have knowledge of and comply with the policies and procedures contained in the Portage Public Schools Employee Handbook

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Must be Highly Qualified, (60 college credit hours, an Associate Degree, or successful completion of the ETS Parapro Exam).
  • Experience working with children
  • Demonstrated abilities in the area of interpersonal communication
  • A high degree of patience, ability and willingness to learn new skills and take direction
  • Comfortable offering medical support to students with Type 1 Diabetes, including giving insulin injections
