The Job You Will Perform:

  • Perform day-to-day shift activities of operating the effluent area in compliance with documented safety requirements.

  • Ensure that all SOPs are followed and provide improvements to existing procedures.

  • Transfer and ensure the safe handling of treatment chemicals and chemical totes.

  • Ensure good housekeeping of the effluent area and effluent vehicle.

  • Monitor and record field readings and operational changes.

  • Respond to emergencies and alarms.

  • Ensure assigned fire system responsibilities are completed.

  • Report any equipment malfunctions through the SAP system and support repair as necessary.

  • Perform laboratory testing, wastewater sampling, basic maintenance, and operational corrections.

  • Make visual assessments about field conditions and communicate (verbally and written) with internal and external customers.

  • Ensure recordkeeping, reporting requirements, sample collection, and data archiving are up-to-date.

  • Complete data entry accurately into Proficy, the mill’s wastewater data collection system.

  • Complete additional duties as assigned by the EHS department or site coordinator.

  • Must be able to demonstrate basic mathematic skills.

  • Must be able to demonstrate ability to monitor effluent area via DeltaV.

  • Must be able to demonstrate attention to detail, show initiative, be reliable and be a team player.

  • Must be able to lift samples weighing as much as 50-60 lbs. (5 gallons).

  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders and work on elevated platforms.

  • Must be comfortable working around ponds. Work is both outdoor and indoor.

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and be able to drive passenger vehicles such as a pickup truck or a 4-door automobile.

  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.

  • Effluent Operators will be assigned to a rotating 12 hour shift team.

The Skills You Will Bring:

  • Must be currently 18 years of age or older

  • Eligible for employment in the U.S.

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent work experience

  • Basic computer skills

  • Able to function in a team environment.

  • Practical understanding of metrics and problem solving.

  • Practical understanding of basic math and algebra. In addition to pre-employment testing, a proficiency test will be conducted as part of the selection process.

  • Laboratory, effluent and/or wastewater treatment experience is preferred, but not required, as training is part of onboarding.
