The Cost Accountant for the Port Washington, NY, location is crucial in developing the manufacturing site, providing accounting and financial guidance to the manufacturing leadership team. They are trusted professionals who ensure transparency in decision-making, translating operational activities into financial results. The Cost Accountant serves as a trusted advisor, offering financial and accounting guidance, and is responsible for compliance with financial controls, audits, and overall financial performance at the site. Duties of this role include but are not limited to the following:

Establish and maintain accurate cost accounting records for all inventory and finished goods. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather relevant data and ensure cost data integrity. Conduct detailed analysis of manufacturing costs and processes to identify cost savings and operational efficiencies opportunities. Support the implementation of a manufacturing system (MRP) and executes ad hoc projects as necessary. Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement. Direct the preparation of the sites Operating Plan/Forecast and assure accuracy and reasonableness of all forward-looking data used for business projections. Ensure the annual rate development process supports the annual spending plan. Create and communicate relevant financial analyses to management, take the lead in local audits, and ensure compliance with site financial and inventory controls. Ensure the site operates with clear visibility of its cost structures and strategies, support efforts to drive automation, simplicity, and reduce complexity and manual processes at the site while maintaining appropriate reporting and financial controls associated with the site assets. Interpret, direct, and ensure compliance with Corporate Accounting Policies and procedures. Ensure that adequate internal controls are maintained so that inventories, M&E, and other company assets are protected during all phases of plant operations.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in accounting or finance, or a related field required. Proven experience in cost accounting and inventory management 5+ years accounting experience Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient in financial analysis and cost control techniques. Experience with ERP systems and MRP platforms is highly desirable. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Detail-oriented and highly organized. Advanced computer skills in MS Office, accounting software and databases
