Engineer/Draftsman Long Island Fireproof Door is one of the largest manufacturers of custom hollow metal doors and frames and stocking distributors of hollow metal doors and frames, wood doors, and architectural finish hardware in North America. JOB PURPOSE Responsible for the design, development and implementation of Hollow Metal and Wood Door Shop Drawings. Act as liaison between groups and departments working on projects, facilitating the review and exchange of information. Maintain appropriate documentation. Supports team members and ensures that established goals and deadlines are met. Keeps superiors informed of status and significant problems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES -Assists with the research, design, and implementation of projects. -Researches and analyzes design proposals, specifications and applications regulations. -Interprets Architectural Specifications and Blueprints in order to develop cad based shop drawings for Architects review. -Coordinates with the client and LIFD Project Manager to resolve issues and application contracts. -Identifies causes of product process instability and recommends solutions. -Ensures products and systems meet client/customer specifications and applicable building codes. -Manages the release of material to the production facility to ensure efficiency and compliance with customers critical path expectations. -Assist management with Research and Development of new products and processes as needed. -Performs engineering project support functions. -Conducts research to determine manufacturability, ease of assembly. -Communicates project information among groups, departments, and units. -Assists in review and creation of documentation. -Ensures that all project documentation is complete and current. -Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relationships with area staff. -Keeps superiors informed of significant problems and of progress in reaching established objectives. -Interacts with engineering team to assess compliance with plan specifications.

Skills/Qualifications: -Must have knowledge of structural steel and miscellaneous metals. -Must be able to read and interpret drawings and contract specifications. -Experience with AutoCAD preferred.
