KBR’s Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) group is looking for a Static Equipment Technician Lead to support the multi-billion-dollar Plaquemines project developing a Liquid Natural Gas export facility when fully developed will have an export capacity of up to 20 million metric tonnes per year. The facility’s location is about 20 miles south of New Orleans. This project is expected to be a multi-phase project spanning two years.

Aligning with KBR’s commitment to sustainability, the 630-acre site located on the Mississippi River provides deep-water access without the need for dredging, allowing for an expedited environmentally friendly development process.

This position is contingent upon having a current/valid TWIC card or having the ability to renew or obtain a TWIC card. The TWIC card must be kept current and maintained through employment.

The Static Equipment Technician Lead will supervise and coordinate the activities of a static equipment technician team. Static equipment refers to any equipment that does not move or rotate, such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, boilers, piping, and storage tanks.

Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, schedule, and assign work to static equipment technicians according to project requirements and deadlines

  • Monitor and evaluate the performance and quality of work of static equipment technicians and provide feedback and guidance

  • Ensure that all static equipment installation, maintenance, and repair activities are carried out in compliance with international design codes and standards, safety regulations, and company policies

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to static equipment operation and functionality

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on static equipment as needed and document the work done, and parts used

  • Order and maintain adequate inventory of spare parts, tools, and materials for static equipment repair and maintenance

  • Train and mentor new or junior static equipment technicians on best practices, procedures, and techniques

  • Communicate and coordinate with other departments, vendors, contractors, and clients to ensure smooth and efficient operation of static equipment

  • Provide technical support and advice to engineers, managers, and clients on static equipment design, selection, testing, fabrication, installation, and commissioning

Experience & Skills:

  • Proficiency in mechanical design and diagnostic testing software

  • Ability to diagnose and repair operational problems on automotive equipment

  • Knowledge of international design codes and standards for static equipment

  • Experience in equipment selection, design, testing, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of static equipment

  • Ability to network with industry and trade associations within the static equipment discipline

  • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Great organizational and time management abilities

  • Willingness to perform mechanical maintenance and repairs outside of business hours

Additional Qualifications:

  • In lieu of formal education 8 + years of directly related field experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
