CpK Interior Products Product Engineer in Port Hope, Ontario

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Product Engineer is accountable for the review and design of current and upcoming products in accordance with the customers’ established processes, standards, and specifications. This position focuses on IATF 16949 standard for quality improvement through a formal commitment to excellence, cost efficiency and reliability.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES:

  • Follow Environmental, Ergonomic and Safety procedures complying with all Company Policies and municipal, provincial, federal regulations and meeting or exceeding related Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).

  • Maintain work areas in a neat and orderly condition in according with established housekeeping standards.

  • Comply with Lean Manufacturing principals and IATF 16949 standards for continuous quality improvement.

  • Ensures all log issues and quotations for assigned projects are coordinated and responded to in a timely manner.

  • Responsible for assigned customer programs from their inception to customer approval and production acceptance. Includes the initiation and maintenance of related purchase orders and identification documents.

  • To work with corporate and/or customer designated design or engineering teams to promote part design that will enhance part quality and improve manufacturing production targets.

  • Ensures all part drawings/data, customer and CpK specifications, new part authorizations, drawing and change control records, are current and on file and approved by the Internal Product Team, Program Manager and where necessary the Plant Manager.

  • Ensure suppliers and contractors are coordinated with appropriate Design contacts and updated CpK drawings.

  • Coordination of Engineering Changes to ensure customer program is up-to-date and properly identified. Coordinates with Maintenance regarding design, layout and engineering changes and quality, efficiency and cost improvements.

  • May Travel outside of country to participate in customer program issues, projects, equipment and design.

  • Assists and coordinates customer related specifications documentation, drawing and or design data.

  • Champions CpK Development teams/Early Equipment Management Project Teams including Tooling/Capital and where applicable Research and Development, participating with other teams related directly to the Product Engineers assigned projects.

  • Updates project status and activity weekly with Team meetings.

  • Other duties, as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge/Skill/Experience):

  • Minimum Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical)

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in automotive manufacturing

  • Knowledge of PLC’s, engineering drawings and design, Microsoft/CAD, cost optimization skills
