Pile Driver Journeyman

Job Description:

  1. Works outdoors in all weather conditions.

  2. Reads and understands blueprints, drawings, and sketches.

  3. Selects proper size and type of building materials according to the project specifications and dimensions.

  4. Plans the installation to avoid obstructions and to avoid interfering with activities of the other workers.

  5. Prepares the layout using rule, framing square, plumb bob, and chalk line.

  6. Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials, using pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.

  7. Shapes materials to prescribed measurements, using saws, chisels, plasma cutters, oxy/acetylene torches, and planes.

  8. Assembles, cut and shapes materials by fastening them together with nails, dowel pins, welders or adhesives.

  9. Verifies the trueness of a structure using a plumb bob and carpenters level.

  10. Erects framework for structures.

  11. Skilled in signaling a crane with an applied knowledge of rigging.

  12. Constructs forms and chutes for pouring concrete.

  13. Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level.

  14. Loads transports, unloads materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.

  15. Assists in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.

  16. Cleans and performs minor maintenance activities on tools, rigging, and equipment.

  17. Maintains a clean and safe work environment.

  18. Restocks supplies and materials as necessary.

  19. Must be able to safely traverse uneven terrain with tools and building materials.

  20. Typically requires a minimum of 48 months industrial construction experience.
