Laser Cutting Machine Operator Job Position

To enhance our long-term growth, we are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Laser Cutting Machine Operator!

The Laser Cutting Machine Operator is responsible for safely operating the Gerber Laser Cutting machine to cut patterns and pieces of materials used in the production process. Responsibilities also include set up, adjust, and operation of the machine as well as monitoring to determine if adjustments are necessary to ensure accuracy and quality of work. We perform meaningful work that impacts the lives of those who risk it all to save ours.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reads work orders to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, dimensions and tolerances, proper labeling of parts, etc., and accurately completes all required functions to ensure only quality product is produced and shipped to customers.

  • Safely sets up machine, materials, and programming per standards.

  • Utilizes computerized control panel to enter codes to select proper cutting programs.

  • Safely and accurately operate machine to produce finished work pieces to quality and efficiency standards, including loading materials.

  • Measures dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications using precision measurement devices as required.

  • Organizes and prioritizes cutting according to needs of production team.

  • Help team lift safely and efficiently to move raw materials, and/or use tools or lift by hand.  

  • Accurately documents/records information enters, records, stores or maintains information in written or electronic form.

  • Performs maintenance on machine per established maintenance schedule.

  • Performs all dimensional inspections.

  • Supports achievement of company standards in safety, efficiency, on-time production, etc.

  • Supports 6S initiatives by keeping the work area clean.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs

  • Planning and organization skills

  • Capacity to follow directions and meet deadlines.

  • Capability of standing 8-10 hours a day

  • Ability to adapt quickly to change or restructure priorities.

  • Ability to read and speak English.

    Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or associate degree in manufacturing or equivalent

  • A minimum of two years of Gerber laser cutting machine operator experience with emphasis in the textile industry

  • Experience in reading drawings and tolerances.

  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD), and drafting.

  • Experience in working with different types of raw materials.

    Working Hours (Shift) Requirement  

  • Hours of operation is Monday through Friday, Full-time/Part-time Availability

              2nd shift 1pm-10:30pm
