McLaren Health Care Emergency Department Technician - McLaren Careers in Pontiac, Michigan

Under the direct supervision, provides assistance to the

emergency department nursing and medical staff with patient care and clerical

duties. Performs various patient care

activities necessary in caring for patients in the emergency department.

Primary Responsibilities

:

  • Provides direct and indirect patientcare, assisting nursing and physician staff with patient care procedures.

  • Inventories andrestocks emergency department equipment.

  • Collects andtransports specimens such as urine, blood, and cultures.

  • Assists with the admission anddischarge of patients, initiates and discontinues intravenous lines, cleans andprepares examination room between patients.

  • Places patients on monitors, provides wound care, assistswith orthopedic procedures

Required:

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent.

  • Six months patient care experience in a health care deliverysetting.

  • Certification as anemergency medical technician (EMT), paramedic, medical assistant (MA), certifiednursing assistant (CNA).

  • BLScertification.

Preferred:

  • ACLS certification.
