Job Type Full-time Description

POSITION PURPOSE

The scope of this position is to ensure product quality, program compliance and food safety by performing all quality checks and observe all plant departments to ensure adherence to the quality systems programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The technician must be in their work area, ready to work at the posted start time. This position is required to carry and communicate with the company provided radio at all times.
  • Be knowledgeable on all product specifications for specific customers. Be knowledgeable on all SPS, SSOP and GMP programs. Be knowledgeable and follow all standard operating procedures for the job position.
  • All team members are required to adhere to all Food Safety Policies and immediately take control of, correct and report any potential Food Safety deficiencies.
  • FSQS technician must be able to perform physical work in all conditions, must be able to stand on hard surfaces and be on his/her feet for long periods of time. Some lifting, pushing, bending, twisting, and pulling will be required. Will be required to work in refrigerated areas for long periods of time.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITY SUMMARY

  • Ensure timely and appropriate communication across the facility and management teams.
  • Participate in FSQS department training in regard to food safety and product quality.
  • Ensure compliance to regulatory, food safety and customer expectations.

Requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES:(include the following. Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Observe SPS, GMP and SSOPs to ensure adherence to the written plans.
  • Perform HACCP, metal detection, product quality, labeling and code dating, net weight, tare weight and bag seal checks every 30 minutes.
  • Collect samples of oil from all fryers and in-bound oil trucks and perform Free Fatty Acid (FFA) testing.
  • Perform scale calibration, X-ray monitoring, freezer temperature, cooler temperature, initial grinder metal detection and in process temperature checks.
  • Verify all marinating and pickup process paperwork and perform pickup checks when needed.
  • Monitor and document footbath and hand sanitizer dips.
  • When needed conduct pre-operational/operation inspection on equipment.
  • Perform sensory evaluations and enter sensory data into the computer.
  • Collect samples for hourly and 24 hour evaluation.
  • Assist in issuing and calibrating thermometers as needed through the day.
  • Assist the FSQS Supervisor in all departments when needed.
  • Train all team members put in your care to the best of your ability.
  • Collect and assist in packing of samples for outside laboratory testing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prefer Food Quality Assurance experience
  • High School diploma required, Degree preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint a plus
  • Excellent Communications skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed. Will require walking primarily on a level surface for periods throughout the day, in some cases up to 12 hours/shift. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the work day. Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting up to 60 pounds for finished cases, ingredients, or other items in conjunction with production operations.

The performance of this position will require exposure to the manufacturing areas which may require the use of personal protective equipment suc as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection. Primary environment: refrigerated room temperatures, lighting and traditional processing equipment as found in a typical production environment
