Become a Regulatory Generator Interconnection Sr. Advisor, in Regulatory Affairs at Southern California Edison (SCE) and help build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll be representing the Company’s positions and interests associated with California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) jurisdictional generator interconnection rulemakings, tariffs, and processes. You will engage with State regulators and other collaborators, establishing relationships with agency leadership, lead cross-collaboration across the company, including providing agency expertise, strategic direction and policy recommendations to executive management and fellow team members.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Lead SCE’s participation in CPUC generator interconnection proceeding(s) and resolution of generator interconnection issues including:

  • Leading SCE’s cross-functional case team, representing SCE on meetings with CPUC staff, drafting and distributing meeting notes, leading responses to data requests, and drafting comments and advice letters.

  • Ensuring responses to CPUC staff questions are answered in a timely manner, developing proposed policy solutions consistent to SCE’s vision for a clean energy future, and presenting recommendations to senior management.

  • In coordination with internal Company organizations, establish, maintain, and cultivate effective trust-based relationships with SCE’s case team, CPUC staff, and external partners.

  • Work closely with other organizational units to understand issues with current generator interconnection process and develop proposals to advance with CPUC staff and partners.

  • Interact with Sr. Management (including Director, Managing Director, and officer levels, as appropriate) to present recommendations related to CPUC generator interconnection proceedings.

The essentials

  • Ten or more years of experience working on regulatory or compliance related matters.

  • Experience in regulatory case/project management, transmission or distribution planning, regulatory law, and/or energy industry regulatory advocacy.

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, business, regulatory policy, communication, or other related discipline (or law degree).

  • Independently manage multiple projects and build positive working relationships, even under challenging circumstances (competing priorities).

  • Experience representing a company or agency in a professional manner.

  • Communicate with positive impact across a broad audience, including policy makers, agency staff, leaders, lawyers, and others.

  • Outstanding organizational and regulatory project management skills.

  • Experience working with CPUC staff and CPUC rulemakings.

  • Excellent communication skills (writing and verbal).

  • Experience using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in order to complete regulatory assignments in a more efficient manner.

  • Experience working with the following regulatory agencies/industry advocacy groups/stakeholders\: CPUC, CAISO, FERC, IREC, CALSSA.

  • Experience writing/preparing regulatory filings/testimony.

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
