ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY

SUMMARY: The California State University Agricultural Research Institute seeks an individual to work full-time as a program coordinator and recruiter on a United States Department of Agriculture NextGen grant. During the five-year program, CSU students will be recruited to participate in the Building A Boulevard ARI-NextGen project to engage in agriculture, natural resource and food system research and professional projects, workshops in professional development and communicating science, and attending professional conferences. Duties will include activities related to program coordination, recruitment and support for the ARI-NextGen program.

SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):

  • Develop and disseminate program information via newsletters, web-based materials, social media, informational webinars, and other media to communicate information and benefits of the program and will raise awareness of the ARI-NextGen program. Target audience includes students and faculty at ARI campuses and across the CSU.
  • Establish and maintain contact information to ARI and other CSU campuses, industry, and agencies to facilitate outreach.
  • Serve as program liaison to faculty and students at CSU campuses, industry, and agencies.
  • Will participate in program evaluation including interfacing with project-specific external reviewer and USDA-affiliated review team.
  • Will help develop and adjust strategy based on program assessment.
  • Coordinate and initiate student recruitment into NextGen program. Participate in reviews of applications, provide notification and communication to applicants and students chosen to participate in the program.
  • Initiate NextGen scholarships which includes working with Cal Poly Pomona Foundation and CSU financial aid offices.
  • Provide support for NextGen student travel grants.
  • As needed, provide general support to further the mission and goals of the ARI-NextGen program.
  • Ability and desire to learn about the ARI program, career pathways appropriate to agricultural and natural resources.
  • Assist with NextGen event planning.
  • Will work remote and/or hybrid.
  • Will need to travel to CSU campuses

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree
  • Three to five years related experience in higher education (or similar experience will be considered)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to solve problems, and must be detailed-oriented.
  • Background in agricultural or natural resources would be helpful, but not essential.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through writing and oral presentations is essential Familiarity with grant programs, or ability to learn about grant programs.
  • Familiarity with and ability to navigate university policies, or ability to learn about university policies.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
