Program Summary

KBR leads the government services world contingency market by providing responsive, full-service logistics support to forces deployed around the world under the Logistics Civil Augmentation Program contract (LOGCAP). KBR’s enduring mission support of the LOGCAP program dates back to 1992 when we served as the contract’s original prime contractor. Job Summary

Join KBR, a leader in delivering innovative solutions to the U.S. Government. We are seeking a dedicated Senior HSE Specialist to join our team and make a tangible difference. This role involves implementing and managing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and fostering a culture of safety within the organization.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Plan and direct safety activities, to include uploading and downloading of aircraft cargo, including but not limited to Class V supply via material handling equipment (MHE).

  • Ensure operators and personnel involved in the cargo handling mission have all required training to meet the requirements of the mission, IAW DA PAM 385-64, AR 95-1; AR 95-2; TC 3-04.81 Facility Operations, Training, Maintenance, and Standardization; and local airfield & runway standard operating procedures established by the Senior Airfield Authority governing airfield and heliport management.

  • Prepare reports and maintain records, reports, and documents to meet company or regulatory requirements.

  • Perform inspections to ensure conformity in all areas of HSE.

  • Interact with services personnel, clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies.

  • Conduct incident investigations and assess mishap causes and risks, recommend and implement preventative/corrective actions to mitigate identified hazards/risks.

  • Ensure the safety of everyone on the airfield within the designated area of responsibility (AOR).

  • Support KBR Aviation Manager as it pertains to KBR HSE procedures and guidelines.

  • Develop and implement HSE policies, procedures, and guidelines for employee and department safety.

  • Interact with services personnel, clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies to research and interpret standards, codes, and regulations.

  • Organize and conduct audits, surveys, evaluations, inspections of company-operated properties to ensure compliance.

  • Stay informed of regulatory requirements and auditing standards.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of systems and standards for capturing and analyzing HSE statistics.

  • Solve complex problems using detailed knowledge of field and industry best practices.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members.

  • Produce and support HSE education and training programs.

  • Be prepared to travel and work in austere environments.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications (Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)

  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field, and at least 5 years of directly related HSE experience. A High School Diploma and an additional 5 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Must have either an OSHA 30 Hour General Industry or NEBOSH Certification.

  • Must have an in-depth knowledge of HSE programs, policies, procedures, and processes.

  • Requires a strong understanding of applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to develop and improve processes.

  • Requires experience mentoring more junior team members.

  • Must be fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing).

  • Must have effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license with at least 6 months of remaining validity from the country/state of residency.

  • Requires a valid passport with at least 12 months of validity and 6 blank pages.

Preferred Qualifications (Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)

  • Advanced degrees in relevant HSE fields.

  • Experience working in the government contracting sector and / or in austere environments.

  • Previous explosives training in accordance with (IAW) DA PAM 385-64 Ammunition and Explosives Safety Standards (Figure 1-1 Army explosives safety courses).

  • Prior experience with aircraft cargo uploading of munitions.

  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory standards and industry best practices.

  • Proven track record in developing and managing HSE programs and initiatives.

  • Strong analytical and statistical analysis skills.

  • Advanced HSE certifications or specialized training in areas such as incident investigation, risk management, or industrial hygiene.
