SAIC Senior SQL DBA in POINT MUGU NAWC, California

Description

SAIC is looking for a Senior SQL DBA who will sustain and provide future solutions/resolutions for the established Electronic Warfare Data System (EWDS) database. This position will be located in Point Mugu, CA and requires direct on-base/in lab support on a daily basis.

Candidates will be able to demonstrate an expert-level of experience in management systems, standards, requirements, guidelines and quality assurance for database deliverables, such as conceptual design and architecture, logical database, capacity planning, external data interface specification, data loading plan, data maintenance plan and security policy. An expert degree of experience in SQL, SQL Server, SQL programming and scripting is required.

Specific responsibilities of the Database Engineer include monitoring, analyzing, configuring, testing, and reporting database conditions to ensure successful database development and maintenance associated with the following:

  • Developing new databases, as required, and updating existing databases - Heavy SQL use.

  • Developing simulations and exercises to test readiness responses and communication channels.

  • Responding to Analysts and user requests for assistance in database integration and development.

  • Work with clients to translate business requirements into a logical model that will accurately support and represent the client's entity relationship and flow of data.

  • Develop the appropriate database framework to convert the logical model into a physical model including the creation and maintenance of schemas containing windows, screens, tables and columns and reports that support the model; and making recommendations to maximize operating efficiency, support storage requirements and vendor software updates, enforce data governance, ensure recovery is maintained.

  • Participate in quality assurance and develops test application code in client server environment.

Qualifications

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of five (5) years’ experience; or a Master’s degree and 3 years of experience; years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

Required skills:

  • An expert degree of experience in SQL, SQL Server, SQL programming and scripting is required.

  • Understanding of Database Administration (DBA) and Configuration Management (CM) processes and supporting Requirements Management.

  • Full understanding of the flow down of Interface Design Documents to Database Data Definitions for the output of version controlled databases.

Required clearance:

  • Must have an active Interim Secret with the ability to gain a Secret Clearance.

Desired skills:

  • Experience in management systems, standards, requirements, guidelines and quality assurance for database deliverables, such as conceptual design and architecture, logical database, capacity planning, external data interface specification, data loading plan, data maintenance plan and security policy.

Target salary range: $125,001 - $150,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
