Summary

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the safe and environmentally sound execution of precision maintenance activities through direct oversight of Superintendents and Managers. The Manager is accountable for their functional area’s overall safety, environmental compliance, work execution, employee engagement, budget, policy formulation, parts inventory, and equipment. The Manager provides direction and follow-up to ensure departmental KPI’s are maintained, and reports results daily and weekly to the Plant Manager. Partners with other department mangers including Production, Engineering, Safety, Environmental and Reliability to ensure efficient delivery of products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strengthen and improve industrial safety in the workplace through enforcing compliance with rules and regulations, field inspections and training.

  • Ensure environmental compliance through proper knowledge and enforcement of procedures and requirements including Bevill Reporting.

  • Develop and manage the department's annual budget including special projects, resource allocation, grounds and facilities and other department priorities. Adheres to Simplot policies regarding approvals.

  • Responsible for the development and enforcement of department policies and standard operating procedures that meets regulatory compliance and the CBA.

  • Enforce accountabilities for all aspects of functional area performance.

  • Provide additional oversight as required i.e.: high risk.

  • Responsible for identifying personnel gaps and future needs to recruit talent to maintain the department needs

  • Supports Manager through disciplinary actions.

  • Identify and implement proactive maintenance strategies that meets production needs in an efficient manner.

  • Report on the department's performance to the Plant Manager and other Simplot leaders.

  • Ensure root cause failure analysis is thorough and complete and proper steps are taken to prevent recurrence.

  • Partner with Reliability department to ensure proper diagnosis occurs on equipment failures and accurately capture bad actors to influence maintenance routines and equipment selection.

  • Effectively manage plant turnaround for safety, environmental compliance, on-time startup and within budget.

  • Supports the contractor selection process and engages in the negotiation of contracts with outside vendors.

  • Participates in Union matters across the location while partnering with Human Resources.

Typical Education

  • Post-secondary degree from a 2-year technical school or a 4-year college/university (desired)

Skill requirements

  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and execute.

  • Effective business and technical communication with both executives and maintenance crews that prevents communication gaps and confusion

  • Solid understanding of business professionalism and ability to work in a team setting and promote positive work environment.

  • MicrosoftSuite experience (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts.

  • Ability to guide and mentor technicians for career development.

  • Experience in managing budgets.

  • Knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance and facilities machines and equipment reliability concepts and quality management methods

Relevant Experience

  • 10+ Years’ experience in facilities maintenance/planning leadership in agricultural processing or similar industry.

  • JDE or similar CMMS experience required.
