TEKsystems Desktop Support Technician in Plymouth, Minnesota

Description:

Job Summary:

This individual will be focused on steady state Desktop Support, new hires, PC replacements and assisting with the ongoing PC Refresh project. The client is looking for a fairly entry level candidate who has 1 – 2 years of Desktop Support experience. From a personality standpoint, the Manager looks for team players who are able to get along and interact well with others on the team and End Users.

Provides technical support to business area management and staffs for personal computer systems software, hardware and network connectivity. Installs, configures and troubleshoots desktop systems, workstations and network connectivity issues. May assign and maintain user passwords for specialized software.

Job Duties:

• Provides end user support of all IT managed systems and applications

• Works independently to resolve prioritized requests while maintaining accurate and thorough documentation, complete ticketing history to document analysis, diagnosis, and resolution plus future preventive actions.

• Follows a prescribed trouble-shooting methodology to consistently and efficiently resolve customer requests.

• Recognize and document recurring problems and patterns of problems within the environment.

• Appropriately determines when to escalate to the next level of support.

• Create and maintain knowledge procedures

• Provides on call support as part of a rotating schedule.

• Other duties as assigned.

Equipment:

Utilizes a personal computer and a variety of standard office equipment including telephone, copier, printers, fax, etc. Works with a wide range of equipment/systems such as PC’s with Windows based operating systems.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma and formal training in current Microsoft Windows client platforms.

• Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously in a timely manner and be able to meet assigned deadlines and service levels.

• Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen, resolve problems, deal with unresolved issues, delays and unexpected events, and the ability to effectively communicate and maintain rapport with supported customers.

• Demonstrated competence in English spelling, grammar and punctuation.

• Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office applications, remote control software, anti-virus, remote access software.

• Requires demonstrated troubleshooting experience with hardware and software, including remote access/VPN and wireless networking

• Ability to travel to local and remote offices nationally, up to 10%.

• Ability to work a rotating on-call schedule which includes night, weekends and holidays.

Technical Domain Qualifications:

Client Services - Technician:

• 1-5 years of PC Hardware experience, troubleshooting and replacing parts

• 1-5 years’ experience with advanced Windows Desktops OS’s configuring and troubleshooting

• mobile phone devices support is preferred

• Experience troubleshooting and supporting audio visual equipment is desired

• Certifications in Windows 10 Desktop and A+ desired

• Active Directory account management; creation and deletion is desired

• Dell certification or the ability to obtain certification within 3 months.

• LAN/WAN troubleshooting and administration skills required

• MAC experience is a plus
