Job Information

NYX, Inc. Fixture/Automation Technician in Plymouth, Michigan

Coordinates, develops, implements and maintains automation cells for a smooth and standardized secondary process. All cells designed to improve ergonomics, throughput, quality, and customer satisfaction. Support and improve manufacturing processes during initial launch and startup process.

Key Responsibilities {#responsibilities-heading}
  1. Train for and setup of all secondary automation processes and equipment for assembly out of mold to box with fast speed, low cost and top-quality. 

  2. Optimize through put for each part and process from design to service life. 

  3. Meet the challenges as directed by your direct manager.

  4. Lead in the standardization and optimization, for current and future state best practices.

  5. Adhere to the methodology of proper process control and standardization.

  6. Take on special projects as requested by your direct manager and/or the ownership of NYX.

  7. QPR participation as needed.

  8. Responsible for automation secondary fixture trials and DOEs taking cues from PFMEA/DFMEA.

  9. Develop and maintain documentation for secondary equipment.

  10. Perform DOE as required by programs.

  11. Participate in prototype builds to detect quality, manufacturing and assembly issues.

  12. Maintain, thru tact time studies, balanced and efficient production lines.

  13. Develop and maintain cell layouts for secondary tool build and plant/cell layouts.

Supporting Job Functions:  Sustain continuous improvements through VAVE and CI (Kaizen) opportunities as directed.

Physical Demands:

  • Walking and sitting -- frequently on production floor
  • Use of hands -- to handle and feel parts for surface qualities
  • Communication -- frequently required to exchange information, regularly required to speak and/or hear. effective and clear direction to subordinates as required. 
  • Lifting -- lift and move up to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Vision abilities -- close, distant, color and ability to adjust focus.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise {#skills-heading}

Bachelors or Master's Degree or Diploma or 5 or more years of equivalent related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Effective and competent communication skills, written and verbal, for dealing with employees, customers and suppliers.

Technical qualifications: Knowledge of CAD applications and blue print interpretation. Required ability to coordinate multiple complex projects simultaneously. PLC programming experience is essential.
