Apexhas an immediate opportunity for a Research Lab Technicianat a global specialty materials client in the King of Prussia area. The ideal candidate will have an ASin Life Sciences or Engineering. Responsibilities: The Lab Technician safely performs advanced specialized technical functions involving testing, analyzing, improving, installing, operating, and/or solving problems concerning gypsum boards (fire, lightweight, mold, and moisture) and its raw materials. JOB OBJECTIVES:

  • Supports engineers and scientists in R&D team with their projects.
  • Executes and/or supports commercial and manufacturing support requests.
  • Manages and documents projects by creating concise and technically accurate summary reports effectively with supervision.
  • Conducts hands-on experimental work and ensures all products are tested and approved according to the company SOP.
  • Performs research and a variety of experiments, makes detailed observations, analyzes data, and interprets results.
  • Identifies opportunities that could impact sustainability with innovative solutions and works with R&D, operations, and technical teams to develop and deploy.
  • Understand/learn material properties which are critical to quality attributes.
  • Plays an active role in lab management: safety aspects, equipment maintenance, 5S, lab audit preparation and action follow-up, lab postings, regular equipment checks etc.
  • Demonstrates open and collaborative approach in all areas of responsibility.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: * Ability to work in a laboratory environment, building relationships and establishing support to execute projects. * Prepares/processes materials samples including:

  • Active involvement in standard and exploratory experiment design for gypsum board
  • Routine laboratory activity to make or prep materials and test samples
  • Collects, analyzes, and reports scientific & engineering data obtained from laboratory equipment through an effective plan/coordination.
  • Performs preliminary statistical data analysis presents results and maintains laboratory notebook.

  • Maintain laboratories and equipment including set-up, operation and troubleshooting of experimental equipment or instruments. Leads troubleshooting initiatives and machine repair efforts. Interacts with facilities and outside contractors for machine and equipment repairs.

  • Perform 5S duties, order, and inventory materials to maintain supplies.
  • Creates concise and technically accurate summary reports of their work.
  • Understand/learn material properties that are critical to quality attributes.
  • Continuously evaluates workplace for safety concerns and ensures behavioral safety initiatives are performed to goal levels. Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in an engineering, technical, or science-related field (or demonstrated equivalent) with 1-2 years of experience or high school degree with 3-4 years lab experience. Should possess a basic understanding of statistical tools, data analysis, and drawing conclusions based on a collection of basic data and interpretation.
  • Demonstrated basic knowledge of HSE.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
