Provide day to day oversight of clinical operations of the Employee Health clinic. Works collaboratively with Director to address and plan for clinical issues and needs of BILH colleagues and the department. The APP Clinical Lead practices within the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center Professional Practice Model, MA Nurse Practice Act, ANA Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics and demonstrates Beth Israel Lahey Health core values that reflect its Mission. The nurse-patient/family relationship, continuity of care and accountability are central to the delivery of individualized high quality patient care.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

Position Specific Functions:

  • Provides oversight of day to day clinic operations in Employee Health

  • Coordination of work flow and allocation of resources.

  • Performs clinical functions within the clinic including but not limited to case management, preplacement health screens, return to work visits, administering vaccinations and TB screening.

  • Provides clinical practice as an APP to employees with work related injuries, blood/body fluid exposures.

  • Collaborates with Infection Prevention and Control and organizational leadership to address workplace exposures.

  • Coordinates scheduling and staffing in the department; assigns/delegates duties to clinical staff.

  • Provides clinical consultation and acts as a resource to clinical staff.

  • Recognizes potential problems in the department involving technical and/or personnel issues, and addresses issues and concerns in a timely manner.

  • Initiates and contributes to quality improvement initiates and standard development.

  • Works with Director to address administrative and clinical needs of the department.

  • Participates/attends organizational meetings as the department representative.

  • Presents employee/occupational health data at organizational meetings as needed.

  • Assures compliance with regulatory requirements and assures the department is in a continuous state of readiness for a regulatory survey, i.e. Joint Commission, MDPH, OSHA, including completion of annual OSHA and MDPH reporting requirements..

  • Collaborate with Director regarding human resources issues, hiring, termination, corrective action, and performance reviews.

  • Collaborates with Director to lead and participate in staff meetings.

  • Participates in and successfully completes Mandatory Education.

  • Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.

  • Other Skills/Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Massachusetts Workers’ Compensation Law

  • Clinical assessment and care planning skills

  • Familiar with OSHA, ADA, FMLA, NIOSH, DIA, and MDPH regulations

  • Competence in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.

  • Ability to gather and interpret data

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Education: BSN, [MSN] Graduate of a state approved and/or accredited School of Nursing

Licensure, Certification, Registration:

  • Current license to practice professional nursing from the Massachusetts Board of Registration

  • BLS certification.

  • NP Certification

Experience: At least 2 years in an occupational health/employee health setting, preferably in a hospital based setting.
