Vector Atomic Navigation Engineer in Pleasanton, California

Vector Atomic is building quantum devices for applications including GPS-free navigation and timing, geophysical exploration, and telecommunications. We are focused on delivering near-term products that take advantage of the exquisite properties of quantum systems. Our devices are designed with the form, fit, function, and cost for the real world.

We are hiring a Navigation Engineer to join our team of scientists and engineers in developing novel quantum sensors and navigation systems for applications including autonomous/GPS-denied navigation and geophysical exploration. We are seeking strong individual contributors that take ownership of their work while supporting overall team goals.

Requirements

What You'll Do:

  • Develop top-level performance simulations for navigation systems that incorporate quantum inertial sensors to improve accuracy of conventional navigation systems, (e.g. reduction in CEP using quantum sensor outputs to assist navigation systems).

  • Define subsystem requirements for inertial sensors from top-level navigation system performance requirements.

  • Support test campaigns and perform data analysis to characterize the overall performance of quantum inertial navigation systems.

  • Collaborate on development of quantum sensor error models and validation with laboratory tests.

What We're Looking For:

  • Advanced degree, or equivalent experience, in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related technical fields.

  • Experience designing, implementing, and simulating inertial navigation algorithms.

  • Experience with multi-sensor data fusion algorithms (particularly Kalman filters).

  • Experience with MATLAB, C/C++, and/or Python for data analysis and simulation.

  • US export control laws require “U.S. persons” including U.S. citizens (born or naturalized), lawful permanent residents, and certain categories of refugees, and asylees.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and collaborators, both written and verbal.

Pay Range

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, performance bonus, benefits, and equity. The pay range for this position is $105,000 to $155,000 including annual bonus. It's atypical to be hired at the top end of this range for the role, as actual pay is based on several factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience level.
