Spectrum Plastics Master Engineering Extrusion Technician in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin

The Engineering Extrusion Technician provides technical support for Medical Tubing extrusion, by extruding, combining resins and colorants, or working to engineering requests. Will be responsible for carrying out the production of medical grade extruded tubing in a safe and proper manner helping to improve quality, reduce scrap to meet all task and cycle time requirements. Operates equipment, cleans and maintains equipment and work documents. May work on new products, processes, test methods, create or update instructions, supports and provides training efforts. Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO13485 and GMP standards or other documents, or quality projects pertaining to tubing extrusion or the use of extruded tubing in products.

  • Applies knowledge of technical concepts and practices, and an understanding of product or system fundamentals, from basic to complex towards the resolution of manufacturing and/or research and development tasks.

  • Performs set-up, testing, repair, inspection, and/or maintenance of all area-specific equipment, materials, systems and or products.

  • Troubleshoots and solves problems requiring interpretation of procedures and practices. Analyzes situations or data to identify issues and trends.

  • Collects, compiles, measures, organizes and records data. Provides input to engineering, qualifications and validation studies and develops or revises documents and procedures and may keep lab not book.

  • Plans, organizes, and prioritizes own daily work routine to meet established schedule and assigned tasks or projects.

  • Communicates as a team member with other functional groups as well as with internal customers. May contact outside vendors as part of job responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years hands on experience required in medical extrusion.

• Minimum educational equivalent to a High School Diploma.

• Prefer 3 years’ experience in engineering in the Medical Device field.

• Self-motivation and hands-on skills to simplify complex processes.

• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO13485 and GMP standards.

• Demonstrated computer skills preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database and other applicable software programs.

• Able to read and understand work instructions and perform basic math computations and computer data entry.

• Familiarity with technical drawings, single lumen, multi lumen and taper tubing.

• Familiarity with plastic materials.

• Familiarity with statistical methods.

• Strong mechanical aptitude with basic understanding of tooling design.

• Working knowledge and experience in using lean tools for process improvements.

• Bilingual: Spanish/English

• 10% Travel.
