DESCRIPTION

Graymont (PA) is seeking a well-organized, highly motivated individual to fill the position of Underground Mine Engineer at the Pleasant Gap, PA location. This individual will lead numerous technical items within the underground mine including, but not limited to, managing capital projects, mine permitting, surveying, designing/implementing ground control, and pumping/ventilation design and installation. The position will also require possessing/obtaining a PA Blaster and Mine Foreman License to serve as an active member of the on-call management team. The keys for success will be:

• A strong focus on safety, open/honest communication, and teamwork

• A continuous improvement attitude in all aspects of both personal performance and the underground mine operation

• Ability to provide leadership for the operation to ensure safe, efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective production of limestone

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct and document roof control inspections

• Frequent communication with miners to embed continuous improvement culture throughout the mine department

• Ensure underground mine-related projects are completed both on time and on budget. Projects are often related to water management, ventilation, and electrical upgrades

• Identify and execute potential efficiency improvements and cost saving opportunities

• Implement long and short term mine plans

• Map underground geological structures and assist with mine surveying as needed

• Organize and maintain engineering document files

• Develop relationships with internal engineering support and outside contractors working on mine related projects

• Submit reports and updates on the mine plan and roof support projects

• Maintain a strong and positive relationship with both federal and state regulatory agencies

• Ensure underground mine team adheres to the OneGraymont philosophy

QUALIFICATIONS

• BS in Mining Engineering, technical degree, or equivalent experience

• Underground mining experience is a plus

• Proven ability with project management from concept to completion (budgeting, documentation, support coordination, etc.)

• Strong commitment to health and safety issues as they relate to the mining industry

• Understanding of mining equipment, geology, and mine safety procedures

• Able to work independently and be self-motivated

• Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and demands

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Experience with Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint)

• Knowledge of JD Edwards software package

• AutoCAD experience is a plus

• Knowledge of MSHA and PA DEP regulations pertaining to metal/non-metal underground mining
