Quiddity Field Surveyor in Plano, Texas

The employee is required to: stand, walk, use hands, tools, controls, reach with arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as well as lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds. This position regularly works outside and occasionally may include moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles and loud noise levels. The preferred candidate will be an excellent communicator, assertive problem-solver and action-oriented team player. Must have a relentlessly positive, flexible, do-whatever-it-takes attitude; must be fast on your feet, poised under pressure, and committed to client service. Additionally, responsibilities include:

  • Provide assistant and performs duties as directed by Party Chief.

  • Cuts and clears brush and trees from line of survey.

  • Holds level or stadia rod at designated points to assist in determining elevations and laying out stakes for mapmaking, construction, land, and other surveys.

  • Measures distance between survey points with steel or cloth tape or surveyor's chain.

  • Marks measuring points with markers, paint sticks, tacks, scratches or stakes.

  • Places stakes at designated points and drives them into ground at specified elevation.

  • Load/unload equipment and prepare trucks for daily jobs.

  • Responsible for job specific quality system tasks as defined in quality manual.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School/GED diploma and the desire to succeed in the surveying industry.

  • Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation and successfully complete a drug screening.

  • Candidates must possess a neat appearance and be prepared for a variety of weather conditions.

  • Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide and perform these operations using units of measurement for distance and have an general understanding of algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.

  • Familiar with survey instruments (total station, data collector, level) is a plus.
