UPMC Unit Clerk - Adult, Child, and Adolescent Bipolar Services | Western Psychiatric Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The Unit Clerk will provide clerical support for the Adult, Child, and Adolescent Bipolar Services unit on the 11th floor of Western Psychiatric Hospital, as directed by the Nurse Clinical Manager, or designee, using specified procedures.

The Adult, Child, and Adolescent Bipolar Services (A-CABS) Program consists of 24 beds which facilitates early identification and treatment of Bipolar Disorder in child/adolescents between the ages of 13 and 18 years old and adults.

This is a Union position with a set pay rate of $15.02.

Responsibilities:

  • Request and log (with verification by RN) patient's appointments, evaluations, consultations and escorts.

  • Obtain various patient reports as requested from computer (e.g., dietary list, laboratory orders, etc.)

  • Answer the telephone, deliver messages, sort unopened mail and place in designated boxes.

  • Maintain unit supplies and equipment.

  • Maintain database for admission and discharge information.

  • Manage patients' written medical record/chart as per policy and procedure.

  • Provide clerical coverage to other nursing units as directed by Manager of Clinical Support Services.

  • Complete photocopying and faxing as requested.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Computer experience preferred.

  • The incumbent must be physically capable of running toward or away from areas where problems are occurring and pushing, pulling, lifting equipment such as wheelchairs, carts, boxes, etc.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

  • Act 33 with renewal

  • Act 34 with renewal

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
