The Department of Urology is seeking a Team Lead Clinical Research Nurse located at the Shadyside Medical Center. The Research Nurse will participate on University of Pittsburgh research grants and UPMC clinical trials. Prior experience is being requested,

Job Summary

Coordinates activities for research study protocols and prepares protocol budgets and internal review board submissions. Reviews studies and patient results with physician, oversees patient recruitment and site visits, and advises patients regarding study activity. Oversees collection and processing of lab results and ensures compliance with protocol and regulatory standards. Performs general laboratory duties and guides staff.

Essential Functions * Coordinates clinical research projects and drug trials * Implements research protocols * Responsible for IRB submissions and assist with clinical trial budget negotiation and payment reconciliation * Collects patient data, including medical histories and physical assessments * Assesses patients for qualification/enrollment in research projects and subject groups and monitors patient assessments * Collects and reviews lab results, monitors results for adverse reactions * Maintains and enters data into databases/logs in a timely and accurate manner * Ensures all protocol and regulatory standards adherence * Performs specialized nursing duties such as phlebotomy, EKG, and process of lab kits- Administers treatment and/or medication in accordance with research protocol * Assist with surgeon to collect, prepare, and process lab specimens * Supervise and train trainees working with teaching clinicians fellows, resident, medical students * Collaborate with multiple investigators, sponsors, and other research staff Physical Effort
