Pressley Ridge Special Education Aide (Extended School Year) -Temporary Position in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
The Pressley Ridge School for Autism in Pittsburgh is currently hiring for a full time Special Education Aide. The Special Education Aide (SEA) assists the teaching staff in assuring the effective implementation of the individual education and behavioral plans of a student.
A. To assist the teaching team in the effective implementation of the individual education plan (IEP), the SEA will:
- Assist the student in working through their daily lesson plans as prepared by the teacher.
- Integrate experiential education into the student's daily programming.
- Maintain and create visuals for the student.
- Assist in the development of materials for program boxes.
- Maintain visual and auditory contact with the student at all times during the school day unless otherwise arranged with staff (including his/her arrival and departure via school buses or cabs).
- Maintain daily communication with team members regarding student programming and progress.
- Assist the teacher to adapt and modify work to the student's instructional level.
B. To assist the teaching team in the effective implementation of the individual behavior/social education IEP goals, the SEA will:
- Implement and monitor behavior/academic interventions as assigned.
- Assist student in accomplishing daily routine activities.
- Assist student in participating in recreational/social activities.
- Assist student in completing self-help activities.
- Assist other staff, as needed, in physical interventions to protect students, staff, and property damage.
C. To ensure appropriate documentation of program activities, the SEA will:
- Maintain written records as requested.
- Follow program policy regarding the documentation of critical incidents (such as physical injury or illness, property damage, runaway, student searches, physical interventions, etc.)
- Utilize technology through electronic documentation and for the creation of visuals.
D. To ensure the continuing development of professional skills, the SEA will:
- Participate in all regularly scheduled in-service programs.
- With the approval of the Program Director periodically attend local, state, or national conferences.
