ASM Global Security Guard - PT in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

SUMMARY

Participates in the day to day functions of securing, directing, and promoting security and public safety at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. You may be called upon to greet guests and clients as they arrive, manage crowds, check bags, monitor designated posts or act as roving patrols. The Security officer is required to perform the following essential duties during the course of a normal workday:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in ensuring the safety of patrons/employees within the facility.

  • Provide crowd management and assist with movement through the facility.

  • Must maintain a professional, courteous demeanor and appearance

  • Conduct roving patrols around the Convention Center that will include:

  • Service corridors, parking lots, grounds, loading docks, offices, rental and administrative spaces including event halls, meeting rooms and employee break rooms

  • Mechanical and electrical rooms to assure doors are locked

  • Event Halls and Pre-function Areas

  • Control flow of vehicular traffic during move in and move out on loading docks

  • Perform routine patrols inside and outside every ½ hour,

  • Restrict and or challenge unauthorized personnel

  • Respond to emergency situations, complete incident reports, initiate AED/CPR/First Aid

  • Complete detailed activity reports, logs and incident reports during shift

  • Operate and monitor computerized fire alarm and surveillance camera systems as required, report all alerts to appropriate personnel.

  • Maintain professional radio etiquette.

  • All other duties/responsibilities as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess oral and written communication skills. Must be able to follow instructions with attention to details.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

High school diploma/equivalent preferred.

6 months to 1 year security experience, preferably in a similar environment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS

Frequent (34-66%) stair climbing, walking on uneven surfaces

Constant (67-100%) excessive standing and sitting, walking for sustained amounts of time.

Occasional exposure (1-33%) to cold/heat condition due to weather temperature changes inside and outside during perimeter tours/rounds.

Occasional (1-33%) High Noise Level Exposure

Occasional (1-33%) Verbal Communication (Talking)

Occasional (1-33%) Exposure to airborne inhalants, dust, exhaust fumes (increases to frequent during show move ins/outs while working directing dock traffic)

Constant (67-100%) Vision (Corrected or Uncorrected, Hearing

HOURS OF WORK AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Shift hours and days will vary depending upon needs but includes, nights, weekends and holidays. Minimal land travel may be required.
