UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is seeking a Part Time Respiratory Therapist to support the Neonatal ICU!

The Infant Respiratory Therapy department includes many areas for opportunity such as Labor & Delivery Response, Level III NICU, OB Trauma Response, Neonatal Team Autonomy, and Inter-facility Ground Transport.

This position will work rotating shifts. Hours are subject to change based on business needs.

Sign-on bonus details:

· $12,000 for a two-year commitment if you have 0-1 years’ experience

· $15,000 for a two-year commitment if you have 1+ years’ experience

Magee Women’s Hospital of UPMC is a world class center for both women’s health and comprehensive medical-surgical care. This facility has one of the largest Neonatal Intensive Care Units in the country and has expanded the hospital’s clinical area to males, with an understanding of their own special health care needs. Magee has a full-service Emergency Department and services including imaging, cardiology, orthopedic surgery, lupus, gastro-enterology, colorectal surgery, pulmonology, and urology.

We will consider CRT, RRT, and all levels of the career ladder. The final title and pay will be determined by education, experience and certifications.

Under the general direction of a physician and by prescription, the respiratory therapist provides respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. Defined responsibilities are performed in all patient populations and in all patient service areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Sets up and operates devices, such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators.

  • Assists to transport mechanically ventilated patients. Responds to all code situations.

  • Maintains patient's chart that contains pertinent identification and therapy information.

  • Reads prescription, measures arterial blood gases, and reviews patient information to assess patient condition and determine requirements for treatment, such as type and duration of therapy, and medication dosages.

  • Monitors patient's physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes. Performs bronchopulmonary drainage and assists patient in performing breathing exercises. Performs pulmonary function tests to be used by physician in diagnosis of case.

· Graduate of a Co ARC (Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) approved Respiratory program required.

o Students who have received a Temporary Practice Permit but have not yet graduated from a Co ARC approved Respiratory program are permitted to begin employment with approval from the Human Resources department.

· Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required Basic Life Support or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation required Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRTT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required prior to expiration of temporary practice permit.

o Respiratory therapists who receive their CRT credential from the NBRC after July 1, 2002, are required to maintain certification under the NBRC requirements

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

· CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

· Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

· Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) OR Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP)

· Act 33 with renewal

· Act 34 with renewal

· Act 73 FBI Clearance
