Braskem America, Inc. seeks a Research Specialist in Pittsburgh, PA, to collaborate with the Material Informatics Team to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions; Identify most effective data-driven tool for solving specific challenges in R&D projects and product applications; Work on maintaining low code/no code applications and workflows to enable efficient data analysis and visualization; Build predictive models by working with small, sparse, or noisy datasets; Propose high throughput experimental methods for sequential/active learning cycles; Leverage value of existing data by building materials databases and design spaces that integrate Braskem´s own data with external sources; Establish, manage and communicate key performance indicators that demonstrate the value of data-driven approach in R&D; Communicate results and observations in varied formats including patent applications, technical reports and seminars, case studies, customer presentations, management team meetings, etc; Mentor junior scientists to carry out data-driven research and application activities. 10% traveling required (domestic/international).  Master's degree in Engineering, or a Science Related Field, plus 24 months in job offered or related role.

Experience to include: Application development, materials research, analysis, and application development; Working with materials informatics principles and data analysis techniques; Using low code/no code platforms for application development and customization; Working with software development languages such as Python, Java, or C++; Using Simulation tools like Ansys or Abacus; and Working with machine learning techniques and algorithms.
