The Center for Governance and Markets (CGM) at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh is a dynamic center supporting cutting-edge academic and policy research. CGM is dedicated to fostering a deeper understanding political order, economic institutions, and the governance of emerging technologies. The center supports a multidisciplinary approach, engaging scholars, policymakers, and practitioners in Pittsburgh and around the world. CGM applies a political economy lens to understand how governance systems adapt and evolve in response to complex challenges, ranging from issues as diverse as global conflict, economic development, and polarization.

The Program Assistant at the Center for Governance and Markets (CGM) will play a crucial role in supporting the Centers research programs and the Global Scholars initiative. This role involves providing administrative assistance, planning and executing events, developing communication strategies, engaging stakeholders, and supporting external communication efforts.

Position is supported 100% by external (non-Pitt) funding.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates degree and at least 3 years of relevant work experience (administrative support, event planning, and communications).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferred.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in academic research and familiarity in the mission and vision of the center.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with communication and social media tools and platforms. Job Summary

Provides daily support in the execution of an assigned program, section, or special interest group and implements procedures, processes, services, and systems to support program workflow. Evaluates and monitors projects, coordinates with internal and external stakeholders, and advises staff on program policies. Creates program communications, coordinates data and manages program databases, and assists in developing program evaluations.

Essential Functions * Administrative Expertise: Proven ability to provide effective administrative support to research * programs and scholars. * Communication: Strong ability to develop and implement communication strategies, create engaging content, and promote organizational activities. * Event Planning: Experience in planning and executing events, with attention to detail and problem-solving skills. * Project Support: Capable of supporting policy brief projects and ensuring timely and effective dissemination of research findings. * Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to effectively engage with stakeholders and maintain productive relationships. Physical Effort

Primarily sedentary. Some travel may be required around campus to attend meetings and trainings. May have options for local or national travel.
