The project will center the synthesis of donor--bridge--acceptor molecules, and the enantiomeric excess of these systems will be monitored upon spin-polarized electron transfer. The synthesis will be accompanied by extensive spectroscopic investigation (UV/visible absorption, electron paramagnetic resonance, circular dichroism, magnetic circular dichroism), X-ray crystallography, and computational techniques (e.g. density functional theory). The project will involve collaboration with a graduate and undergraduate student in the Transue lab, and some spectroscopic measurements will involve further collaborations with other labs.
