Job Description:

This is a night position that will work 7on/7off shifts, rotating from 7:30pm -6:30am, and 8:30pm-7:30am. A 7- day stretch off provides opportunity to pursue personal interests, travel, etc., offering great work-life balance.

The Night Pharmacist ensures optimal patient outcomes, educates present and future practitioners, and supports drug-related research. This role will be involved in patient care activities supporting a variety of patient populations ranging from neonates to geriatrics. Inpatient and outpatient practice areas include, but are not limited to, general medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, intensive care, orthopedics, oncology, and neonatology.

Responsibilities:

  • Review medication orders for safe and effective indication, dose, route, and scheduled administration. This monitoring and evaluation are appropriately documented.

  • Screen all medication orders for Adverse Drug Reactions/Medication Errors as per Department standards and report through appropriate reporting process.

  • Support drug-related research by assisting in the procurement, accountability, storage, preparation, and distribution of investigational/study drugs.

  • Audit and maintain accurate records for all controlled substances. Assure that all controlled substances are stored and dispensed in compliance with Federal, State, and Departmental regulations.

  • Provide oversight to ensure efficient workflow to meet patient and customer needs and work with the evening/night technical staff to promote teamwork in the department.

  • Demonstrate behaviors that support the Mission, Vision, and Values Statement of the hospital, the Department of Pharmacy, and contribute to the overall success of our organization.

  • Support drug-related research by assisting in the procurement, accountability, storage, preparation, and distribution of investigational/study drugs.

  • Annually complete continuing education programs related to Pharmacy Practice as a mandatory requirement for maintaining an active license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

  • Where applicable, document clinical interventions in accordance with Department procedures.

  • Support all clinical initiatives and programs conducted by the Department.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) from an accredited School of Pharmacy is required

  • Post-licensure hospital pharmacy, long-term care, or home infusion pharmacy experience preferred but not required.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Pharmacist License

  • Act 33 with renewal

  • Act 34 with renewal

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
