Network/Security Administrator

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2 years experience in a network environment
  • Associates degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related degree
  • Working knowledge of the entire Microsoft Office Suite.
  • An MCSE certification (Desktop Infrastructure) and a working knowledge of VM, Java, and .Net environments preferred.

Knowledge of:

  • Problem solving by using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches.
  • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Understanding the implications of the latest information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.

Ability to:

  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with end-users and technical peers.
  • Work effectively under stressful conditions.
  • Read, write, and perform data entry.

     

Position Summary

  • Responsible for the daily operation of computer systems and peripheral devices; install, configure, and support the organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet systems or a segment of a network system.

``` - Monitor network to ensure network availability to all system users and may perform necessary maintenance to support network availability. - Monitor and test Web site performance to ensure Web sites operate correctly and without interruption. - Assist in network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software. - Assists in Data Processing Area network administration for all computer hardware and network applications. Administer network security measures. - Responsible for training of the employees regarding network systems and security protocols.

Duties:

  • Develop and maintain all computer systems.
  • Support and train employees in the use of all computer systems.
  • Ensure that the network is operational and provides services to all users.
  • Deploys, configures, maintains and monitors PC hardware and software, as well as printer hardware. 
  • Maintains and administers computer networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
  • Maintains security access to various systems.
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
  • Configure, monitor, and maintain email applications or virus protection software.
  • Responsible to review the issues log and incoming issues and resolve them or triage them, as appropriate.
  • Performs routine maintenance on equipment and determines the types of service and intervals necessary to ensure efficient equipment operation in a cost-effective manner. 
  • Performs data backups and disaster recovery operations.
  • Maintains the computer supplies inventory and equipment service contracts.
  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and resolves hardware, software, or other network and system problems,
  • Replaces defective components when necessary.
  • Maintains computer hardware, installs software and device drivers. 
  • Set-up new users, workstations, and printers
  • Assist users with all desktop applications.
  • Furnishes comprehensive recommendations for necessary changes to enhance employee productivity.
  • Data entry in various databases as needed.
  • Initiates projects and assists in other functions as directed
