Job Description

Assist/Manage/Own voice and data communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitors protocol compatibility, performs system tuning and makes recommendations for improvement

  • Develops integrated solutions to resolve highly complex technical and business issues

  • Assists in network planning and network architecture design and engineering

  • Performs network problem resolution and assists in the development and documentation of technical standards and interface applications

  • Provides leadership in fostering teamwork and cooperation

  • Assists on special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required

  • Accountable to maintain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and adhere to internal control policies and procedure

  • Design and deploy functional infrastructure/networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN)

  • Configure and install software, servers, routers and other network devices

  • Monitor network performance and integrity

  • Resolve issues tiers of support have escalated by troubleshooting cloud and local infrastructure

  • Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness

  • Create, oversee and test security measures (e.g. access authentication and disaster recovery)

  • Communicate with users when needed

  • Maintain complete technical documentation

  • Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity and scalability. Keeps request backlog organized. Works proactively with management to ensure activities with the highest financial and strategic return are pursued.

  • Additional duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate Degree in Computer Science, Related field or relevant work experience

  • Advanced degree (MBA, Master's) preferred

  • 5+ Years working in a Professional IT Organization

  • Technical Industry-related experience as a Senior Network Engineer or Network Administrator

  • Professional certification preferred (CCNA or equivalent)

  • Solid background in network administration and architecture

  • In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF)

  • Familiarity with access control models and network security

  • Knowledge of coding languages for scripting (e.g Python, Perl, Java)

  • Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools (e.g. SolarWinds network tools, Splunk)

  • Solid understanding of network operating systems (JUNOS, Cisco IOS)

  • Experience in managing firewalls and network security devices

  • Sharp troubleshooting skills

  • High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications

  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)

  • Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts

  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients

  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.

  • Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management

  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
