UPMC MRI Technologist/MRI Technologist Adv in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

$30,000 Sign-On Bonus now offered to eligible hires!

Sign-On Bonus Details: $15,000 for a 2-year work commitment or $30,000 for a three-year work commitment.

UPMC Presbyterian is seeking an MRI Tech/MRI Tech Adv to join our team! Our department offers a variety of shifts: 3 13-hour Day/Evening/Night shifts between 6:30am - 8pm or 5:30pm - 7am, and 10-hour night shifts between 8pm - 6:30am including rotating weekend and holiday responsibilities with occasional float requirements to our Sport Medicine locations.

MRI Technologist starting rate: $30.27/hour.

MRI Technologist Adv starting rate: $32.39/hour.

Final candidates will be selected for a job title within the career ladder that reflects level of education, experience, and manager discretion at the time of offer.

MRI Tech Responsibilities:

  • Maintains clinical competency for all exams and equipment.

  • Identifies all patients properly by using two patient identifiers and utilizes universal protocol when performing procedures.

  • Reviews patient history and assesses physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in the acquisition of data including the labeling /preparation/and administration of contrast.

  • Documents patient history in electronic record as required.

  • Prior to start of exam, reads and presents all relevant information to the physician based on protocol.

  • Ensures all exams within his/her area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through RIS system, all exams are properly networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the exams performed.

  • Practices and maintains MR safety in the department.

  • Practices and maintains MR safety in the department.

  • Performs weekly ACR Phantom testing.

MRI Tech Adv Responsibilities:

  • Performs or assists Clinical Specialist in performing QA, regulatory testing, and other technical and research initiatives.

  • Demonstrates complete operation of specialty equipment, analyzes data promptly, and completes quality control activities.

  • Assists with the training of staff and students.

  • Demonstrates the ability to function independently, and is able to cover off shifts, on-call responsibilities, and perform services at satellite facilities, where applicable, while continually communicating with lead and management team.

  • Promptly responds to medical editing requests.

  • Participates in standardization activities with system-level workgroups.

MRI Tech Requirements:

  • Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited CNMT, ARMRIT or ARDMS program.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Must obtain MR registry within 18 months of hire date.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required.

  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

  • ARRT Certificate OR American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT) OR Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC) OR Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS)

  • Act 34

MRI Tech Adv Requirements:

  • Completion of formal training in MRI-related program accredited by the ARRT or ARMRIT program.

  • 2 years MRI experience required.

  • Must have obtained a performance review rating of strong/solid/good on most recent performance review to be eligible for promotion.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • ARRT MR Certified OR American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
