Are you an Invasive Cardiac or Interventional Technologist looking for a career in a progressive fast paced Cardiac Catheterization lab? Join us in the UPMC Shadyside Cardiac Catheterization Lab as we provide Life Changing Medicine to our community! If you are looking to expand your career in Diagnostic Imaging, we offer an extensive orientation program that will ensure your success in the department!

We are looking for confident, skilled diagnostic techs who can apply their critical thinking skills and passion for saving lives during procedures that include:

  • Cardiac Catheterization

  • Cardiac angioplasty and stenting

  • Various Vascular procedures

  • Pericardiocentesis

  • Right Heart Catheterizations

Schedule:

  • Five 8-hour shifts per week - 7:30am - 4pm.10-hour shifts are also offered.

  • There are no regular weekend operating hours, but there is a possibility for on-call coverage for emergent cases.

  • Tech may float to UPMC Presbyterian based on department/case needs.

  • You will have a rotating on-call requirement (1-2 nights per week and intermittent weekends) You will be guaranteed time and a half for call-ins.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures all images within his/her area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through the PACS and are properly networked to appropriate electronic record for archival and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the procedures performed.

  • Maintains continuing education and competency requirements for position.

  • Demonstrates a strong ability to interact with both patients and co-workers, while displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity and respect.

  • Documents patient history in electronic record as required.

  • Maintains point of care testing standards, including daily quality control, for devices used for procedures.

  • Demonstrate proper positioning and appropriate radiographic techniques for all diagnostic and interventional procedures.

  • Demonstrates competency in functioning in the first assist position.

  • Fosters an environment that supports aseptic technique during procedures and patient safety with the incorporation of a time-out process.

  • Administers contrast under the direction of the procedure physician.

  • Provides stand by call coverage, as scheduled, in accordance with system-wide stand by call procedure/policy

  • Practices with attentiveness to radiation safety for the patient as well as others in the procedure room including appropriate use of lead shielding and monitoring devices.

  • Assures documentation of patient radiation exposure in electronic record.

  • Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology (RT-R) or Invasive Cardiovascular Specialist (RCIS). Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • ARRT Certificate OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist required.

  • CPR certification is required.

  • ACLS certification is desired upon hire.

  • Successful completion of ACLS certification required within orientation period.

  • ARRT Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiology OR ARRT Certificate OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Echocardiograph and Ultrasound

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Act 34
