PNC Infrastructure Engineer - Desktop Engineer in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Position Overview

This position is primarily based in a location within PNC's footprint. Responsibilities require time in the office or in a field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities can be performed remotely. Additional locations may be considered.

PNC is seeking a Infrastructure Engineer to be a part of the Digital Workplace Desktop Engineering team. Work in this role will be varied but focus mainly on defining, building, implementing and maintaining a best-in-class hardware and PC peripheral management practice. This will include developing the processes by which PNC will manage BIOS, drivers and other software updates across multiple hardware OEM’s and software solutions. In addition, you will assist with the development, planning, delivery, and oversight of projects that impact our user base of 50,000+ users and 100,000 Windows PC’s and mobile devices.

Essential Experience/Duties/Responsibilities:

  • A wide range of end user technology experience in an environment where scale matters.

  • Broad and deep experience with endpoint hardware (desktops, laptops, monitor, kiosk, etc.) including device selection, certification, and ongoing upkeep/management.

  • Proven ability to deliver new and improve existing technologies - more capable, more scalable, faster, easier to support, cheaper, etc.

  • Proven ability to develop, monitor and maintain metrics that drive key business results. This in context that will include monitoring for configuration drift, update/patch success, etc. Experience with PowerBI and similar reporting/dahboarding tools preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead without formal authority.

  • Proven ability in Automation – specifically automation of routine desktop tasks that may facilitate testing or deployment or software update. Experience with Microsoft Powershell preferred.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • The passion and ability to make a difference in projects of all sizes. Demonstrates energy and a desire to succeed; follows through on commitments; pushes self and others to deliver exceptional results.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Senior level experience working in a large environment, (40,000+ endpoints)

  • Ability to work alone or in a team environment.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Communicates well downward upward and outward
