UPMC Gift Shop Sales Associate in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

In 1898, the Ladies Hospital Aid Society (LHAS) began its long history of community service when 17 women met to address the pressing needs of the sick and the poor who were living in their neighborhoods. Referring to themselves as the Hebrew Ladies Hospital Aid Society, this group counted among its many philanthropic accomplishments, the opening of the original Montefiore Hospital in 1908, and the construction of the current site in 1929. In 1990, Montefiore Hospital was sold and became part of the UPMC system and LHAS continues to serve the Pittsburgh community today.

Purpose:

As the public face for LHAS, the Sales Associate/Visual Merchandiser is expected to be continuously updating their knowledge of the company's product, service, and policies.

Responsibilities:

· Greeting customers, responding to questions, improving engagement with merchandise, and providing outstanding service.

· Opens and closes store.

· Operates POS, and maintains Lottery machines, manages financial transactions, balances drawer, and prepares deposits.

· Prepares PO to order repeat products from the vendor. Ie snacks, drinks

· Assist with the preparation of incoming merchandise, check invoices, enter POs to get pricing tickets, unpack, and price products.

· Maintains visual presentation of the sales floor, products, signage, and displays.

· Stocks candy, and other merchandise daily

· Responsible for ideas to increase store sales.

· Uses cross-selling techniques to increase customer purchase amounts.

· Maintains shop to ensure a safe and aesthetic environment.

· Ensures daily operations are overseen in an efficient and effective manner.

· Is aware of theft and ways to prevent it.

· High School Diploma required.

· Associate degree preferred.

· Available to work full day shifts and weekends.

· Visual merchandising and retail experience, preferably 2 years in a gift shop Knowledge of merchandising and display to achieve sales impact.

· Maintains a professional appearance and is well-spoken.

· Maintains a positive attitude and focus on customer satisfaction.

· Ability to turn a frustrated customer into a happy customer requiring a combination of empathy and tact.

· Is a TEAM player The ability to read, write, and perform basic math.

· Experienced with a POS system and basic computer skills.

· Able to lift and move heavy boxes. Up to 40 lbs.

· Ability to stand and work for extended periods of time.

· Must be able to walk between stores, transferring products, which is a half-mile. This is not a sedentary job.
