UPMC Full-Time Histology Image Scanning Tech in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
UPMC Presbyterian is hiring a full-time Histology Image Scanning Tech to join the Laboratory team! This position is part of a growing Informatics Division and will be instrumental in sharing workflow feedback for optimal outcomes. The schedule will consist of daylight hours Monday through Friday and will work daily at a combination of Presbyterian Hospital, Magee Hospital, and the Clinical Lab Building (CLB) locations - all in Oakland.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary resource for equipment knowledge, troubleshooting, and data information regarding the imaging system.
Load prepared microscopic slides onto a digital image scanner for pathologist review.
Assist with laboratory slide preparation and delivery operations to limit disruption to workflow.
Perform quality assurance evaluation on scanned images.
Confirm slides are scanned as complete cases.
Prepare and analyze data metrics related to imaging system reliability.
Collaborate professionally with the digital imaging implementation team to ensure success.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate's degree in a related field preferred.
One year previous medical record department-related experience preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology, histology, anatomy, and pathology.
Ability to understand, manipulate, and verify data for accurate reports.
Ability to work in an environment with demanding rush deadlines and to concentrate under the pressure of time constraints.
Comfortable and proficient using computer software, specifically Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Teams, Excel).
Strong multitasking skills, attention to detail and accuracy, and effective communication.
