UPMC Full-Time Histology Image Scanning Tech in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

UPMC Presbyterian is hiring a full-time Histology Image Scanning Tech to join the Laboratory team! This position is part of a growing Informatics Division and will be instrumental in sharing workflow feedback for optimal outcomes. The schedule will consist of daylight hours Monday through Friday and will work daily at a combination of Presbyterian Hospital, Magee Hospital, and the Clinical Lab Building (CLB) locations - all in Oakland.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary resource for equipment knowledge, troubleshooting, and data information regarding the imaging system.

  • Load prepared microscopic slides onto a digital image scanner for pathologist review.

  • Assist with laboratory slide preparation and delivery operations to limit disruption to workflow.

  • Perform quality assurance evaluation on scanned images.

  • Confirm slides are scanned as complete cases.

  • Prepare and analyze data metrics related to imaging system reliability.

  • Collaborate professionally with the digital imaging implementation team to ensure success.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Associate's degree in a related field preferred.

  • One year previous medical record department-related experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, histology, anatomy, and pathology.

  • Ability to understand, manipulate, and verify data for accurate reports.

  • Ability to work in an environment with demanding rush deadlines and to concentrate under the pressure of time constraints.

  • Comfortable and proficient using computer software, specifically Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Teams, Excel).

  • Strong multitasking skills, attention to detail and accuracy, and effective communication.
