Environmental Technician [PT as need] - 2311  

DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: H2M architects + engineers a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, environmental consulting firm in Melville, NY, New York City and Pitts burgh/Harrisburg , PA seeks an Environmental Technician [PT] . As an Environmental Technician, you will be responsible for assisting with sampling, testing and inspections for asbestos surveys, reviewing and understanding site plans, completing asbestos, mold, lead and indoor air quality inspection reports for insurance companies, private industries and school districts. Travel is required for this position and you may be required to use your own vehicle for work related travel including travel to and from job sites. This position is flexible and can be Part-Time.

Job Responsibilities:  * Perform asbestos, mold and lead surveys on residential and commercial buildings.  * Providing project monitoring and air sampling, including compliance with on-site field protocols such as chain of custody forms and daily logs.  * Preparing and reviewing project related reports.  * Project management of asbestos and lead abatement projects including scheduling field staff, client management, dealing with contractors and ensuring compliance with state and city agencies, a plus.

Education and Qualifications:  * High School Diploma or equivalent required.  * Less than 1 year of experience in the environmental consulting field, specifically industrial hygiene a plus.  * Current NYSDOL certifications for the following:  * Asbestos Inspector desired .  * Mold Assessor desired .  * Asbestos Project Monitoring/Air Sampling Technician desired.  * Asbestos Project Designer desired.  * NYC DEP Asbestos Investigator a plus.  * Lead EPA lead inspector/risk assessor certification a plus.  * Strong technical skills including field expertise and knowledge of architectural drawings.  * Excellent oral and written communication skills.  * The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.  * Client relationship skills.  * Proficient in Microsoft Office.

The hourly rate for this role is $18-$21.
