UPMC Emergency Department Patient Service Representative (Overnight, Daylight and Evening Opportunities in Allegheny County) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

UPMC is currently hiring full-time and part-time Patient Services Representatives to work patient registration at the front desk and bedside in the Emergency Department.

Responsibilities:

Your typical day will be working with patients and family members as they come into the Emergency Room. You will be one of the first UPMC team members they interact with to get checked in. As part of that process, you will:

  • Obtain or update necessary demographic and insurance-related information.

  • Confirm insurance eligibility

  • Collect and record patient payments including co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles Obtain applicable signatures for consent to treat and financial responsibility, along with signatures on any required forms

  • Required Experience:

  • Completion of High School graduate or equivalent.

  • Preferred Experience:

  • One year of experience in a healthcare setting or six months in a UPMC Patient Access position is preferred.

  • Medical Terminology, third-party healthcare coverage experience, and a strong understanding of managed care regulations are preferred.

  • Experience with personal computer-based applications, other various office equipment, and proficient typing skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are required.

  • Initiative to work productively with minimal supervision.

Clearances/Licensure: (to be acquired after offer acceptance and before the start date – we will provide instructions on how to obtain):

  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training.

  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
