Reference #: 2021557 University Libraries, ETC, IDeATe, and Sustainability Initiative (UEIS) make up the portfolio of units reporting to Helen and Henry Posner, Jr. Dean of the University Libraries and Director of Emerging and Integrative Media Initiatives Keith Webster. With complementary missions to advance knowledge and cultivate innovation in the pursuit of a more equitable future for all, there are more similarities than differences between these disparate units. This position will write content for units within the UEIS portfolio - with a special focus on the Entertainment Technology Center (ETC) and University Libraries.

The Carnegie Mellon University Libraries is the destination for scholarly information, creative inquiry, and intellectual collaboration across fields, propelling the significance, reach and impact of the university. The Entertainment Technology Center (ETC) is the premiere professional graduate program for interactive entertainment as it's applied across various fields, offering a unique, two-year Master of Entertainment Technology (MET) degree that was founded as a joint venture between Carnegie Mellon University's School of Computer Science and the College of Fine Arts.

This position requires a thorough, organized, and efficient individual who possesses strong writing, editing, proofreading skills. This individual has the ability to clearly articulate complex information and ensure written materials are timely, relevant, audience specific/focused, visually appealing, reflective of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging values, and factually and technically accurate. This full-time position will report to the Associate Dean of External Relations, University Libraries.

Core responsibilities will include: Work directly with Libraries and ETC leadership, staff and university partners to develop and write stories to promote the units, elevate the visibility of their impact and strengthen their brand. Topics will include, but are not limited to: stories on new initiatives, stories on research activities, stories about successful partnerships, stories about student and alumni activities, press releases and gift announcements. Write content for digital communications channels, including newsletters, website and social media. Develop and implement new, creative ideas for promoting ETC and Libraries. Build simple design assets such as directional signage, slides or event programs. Act as primary point of contact for vendors involved in the production and delivery of photography and video content, schedule shoots, ensure assets are accurately tagged and saved for future use. Provide admin support for both in-person and virtual events, including staffing registration tables, working with speakers and technical staff on audio visual needs, attending events for reporting, video, and photography, and other similar activities. Manage and track inventory of marketing and event supplies and print materials.
